Effects of the conflict
We explained before how the civil war started with the rise of the Arab Spring. The Arab spring lead to many protests in the Arab world against the seating governments. The protests caused the governments to be thrown over. This went on like a 'domino effect' all over the Arab world and many revolutions followed. Well, in Syria the same case happened, but what are actually the effects of this civil war?First of all, up to day, more than 200,000 Syrian people have died. According to the NOS news of 1st of January 2015, 76,000 people died in the year 2014 only.
Also according to estimations and calculations, 6.5 million Syrians have been displaced, more than 3 million Syrians have fled from Syria to countries such as Turkey, Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, Egypt and become refugees. Not to forget the millions more who have been left in poor living conditions. These people are struggling to get enough of food and drinking water at the moment. Since Assad is fighting with the government military against the Syrian opposition, the Western countries have decided to tighten the sanctions against Syria. This has had a big influence on the social bonds Syria has with Europe and North America. Not to speak about the Syrian economy at the moment. By July 2013, the economy has shrunk by 45%, and now in 2015, we can almost say for sure that their economy has worsened over time.
